Well, you wouldn't exactly do it to the good foliage, just the bottom branches (I have six or seven branches on the bottom with only one or two leaves that would die anyhow.) I don't see how it would make the clones weak unless the tree repairs so many times they're thin little twigs.

The clone i planted doesnt seem to be doing to   well, and i wonder if its because the root is to short. If that root took four months, then it might be likely that an adequate root might take years. I will try some more, but i will definetely wait longer so that the roots are longer.

On another note, i had three seperate miracle fruit parties, and made believers out of around 20 people, many whom were VERY skeptical. It was fun, and worth the work.

Maybe the plant will overcome it's shock? the party thing and making believers out of people is my goal. That must have been really fun!

I can't remember who discovered it, but whoever trimmed the shell off the seeds then had them germinate faster had a good idea. I did it for two seeds, the first germinating in three days then the other in a couple of weeks. They are both now planted and now I wait.

Sociotheorist discovered that. I'm sorry I was critical of his ideas, I really have to try that sometime.

That clone I was talking about did well, grew some more leaves and has been since transplanted. Success! I also have two seedlings that are growing well. Success some more!

I wanted to show off my growing set up, and hopefully give some example, or some justification to your spouse for the amount of money you may be spending.

View of the plants from the inside. Looking out the south window, then through the other south window of the exterior shed/greenhouse.

My controls. Temp censor, controls the oil heater (most efficient electric heat that I have found btw), humidity censor controls control valve which turns on and sends water in, and through fogging nozzle.

T8 "warm" grow light to supplement the Oregon winter. Ceiling glass, and the black tube sticking out from the wall is the water line and fogging nozzle.

I just moved to this house and they had a shed in the middle of the yard. So I carved out a space in the hill, moved the shed there, raised the roof, and put my tropical greenhouse inside. Double protection from the winter cold, which we have below freezing every night now.

The south facing wall and roof, covered in 4 mil plastic. That black tube you see sticking up in front is an intake for the cooling vent. It goes under ground beneath the greenhouse/shed, cools the air, and pops up on the other side (see below)

A closer view of the tropical greenhouse from the shed door

Behind the north wall. You can see the cooling vent pipe pop up out of the ground and feed into the shed, then the tropical greenhouse. Also the orange extension cord, then the water box to the right.

The water valve and controls with the tubes holding the wiring, hose for watering, and water line for fogger. In the box I have a 4 way splitter, pressure gauge, valve control, and watering hose.

Everything is finally up and running well, I just put a pressure regulator on the hose to bring it down. The temp and humidity are in the lower 70s, both tall trees are flowering with some fruit, and some flowers dying. On a sunny day they get maybe 2-3 hours of sunlight right now, so I think that is a little low. However, they keep producing more and more flowers! Let me know what you think!

Sorry about the crooked pics, I really don't feel like going back and adjusting all of those.

So I am having a problem with runt leaves. They grow about a qurter inch to half and inch, and dry up on the ends. My humidity is around 70, and temp is in the 70's. Fertilized, watered, large enough space for roots, etc. My only guess is not enough light as it is summer?

Has anyone else had this? I might have it on one plant, but right now it is all four of my mature plants...

I have some flowers with red stripes on them. Anyone else had this? Any guesses what it means?

I also have these strange white bulges popping out of my trunk, and they are not flowers. I think I may have bumped it with some rooting hormone when I was forming a cutting. Not sure though.

Far away for perspective

In my experience, those little green bumps are the beginnings of aggressive branching.

I had bump like that at the base of the trunk which rapidly leafed out and now is a complete new branch (the healthiest looking of any on my plant)

Thats a good thought. I also have another poorly growing tree that had super branches come out, and they grow much faster than the rest of the tree. I wouldn't mind having more branches - more tree for the space which means more fruit! When they get big I could clone them too. I hope you are right!

Any idea on the red on the flowers? I only took one picture, but there were multiple flowers with red.

It's evolving into a prettier houseplant? Fallen pollen?

No idea.

After looking again, I realized they are totally white and look nothing like branches. I guess we will see ove rthe next few weeks.

Silence, I hope you are right and it is evolving (is that possible at this level of growth?). A peppermint stripe miracle fruit tree would be unique.
