Usually anything with copper has potential harmful effects, though that might only be true in construction. In gardening it has all kinds of applications. I would just pay good attention to the directions.

Well, I have some good news! The main trunk is showing signs of new branches. I have been treating it with the copper soap, hopefully it will keep improving it. It seems as the main branch that is connected to the trunk has died. Is there any way to tell? I am just guessing to look for green under the bark.

Hope your plant is doing well. I got mine from Thailand and the person told me to leave them in the bag for 3 months. They did very well. Personally I don't think lifting the bag off every other day is good for them. After a few months I have opened the bags from the bottom so they are no longer sealed, but for the first few months it was sealed to the naked eye.
I am having a different problem, I get lots of flowers, but they turn black in a day or two.

Lucky. Mine, from the same seller, following exactly the same instructions, is still the same as the past five months. Almost dead.

Amala, it might be light.
Also, you said you don't like lifting the bag. Was there a bad result from lifting the bag? It might help us to know in our collection of data.

My plant is doing well. There are some new leaves and branches coming in. It's not in the best shape, but at least it's alive.

So the plant that lost all of its leaves and had dry, not-green secondary branches is making a comeback? Yes! Hope!

It lost all of it's leaves except one. Now it has new shoots and leaves (I count 8!). Unfortunately, the larger secondary branch was lost, so whatever it had hit it hard. The main thing was identifying and getting rid rid of the disease (thanks to Arjibuh for helping with that). I also used some superthrive, though I am unsure if that did anything.

Yet again, the plant has doubled its amount of leaves.
The other plant's leaves feel more dry and crisp compared to my underdog one. I think I might be seeing some flowers form, though they could just be leave buds.
More details to come...

Congrats on the comeback! I got some plants from Mark about the same time you did and I'm seeing what I'm fairly sure are flower buds forming as well so it is quite likely that is what we're both seeing. Hopefully you'll have some fruit soon!

Forgot about that, thanks. Is there anything I should do to promote blooming? Or should I just leave it be?

They do look like that and I'm sure they're buds since they have started to flower! I got nervous because I accidentally left the flap of my grow enclosure open for a few hours and the humidity dropped below 50%. The next day though, the buds had popped open. I'm hoping they go to fruit but won't be surprised if they drop as well. This is one of the plants from Mark that still hasn't been repotted and is getting quite root bound but it is directly under the CFL so is likely getting the most light input. Fun times! I'm not sure about making them bloom (aside from waiting) but pollination has been discussed a bit at: http://www.miracletaste.com/index.php/topic,239.0.html . For now, I'm making sure there is water dripping off the leaves and shaking the darn thing.
